Saffron Walden
Yesterday I drove down to Saffron Walden - nearly 5 hours in the car... phew - ready to visit Katherine Semar Infant School. I stayed the night at the lovely Saffron Hotel and then got up nice and early this morning , had some breakfast, then set off to find the school. It was great meeting everone at school - especially as everyone was so friendly - and I had a great time sharing stories and talking about writing. There were some wonderful displays on the wall.
Here you can see some fantastic pictures of Snail and Frog ... that have been done by some of the amazing artists in year 2.
In the afternoon I worked with Year 1 and with the reception classes... The day was finished off by a little storytelling session in the hall and then the book fair. It was great to be able to sign some books for people - I hope you all enjoy reading them.
When I visited Miss Garwood's year one class I was amazed to find that they had been making Snail's Running Hats out of clay... ...and what excellent hats they are too.
One of the hats even has a special fan on it to help keep snail cool when he goes running.

Hurray
Hurray… today is the official publication day for Robo-runners Book 1 – The Tin Man so hopefully you will soon be able to find copies of the book in your local library and even in some shops. (you can also buy copies from Amazon.co.uk)The book doesn’t come out in paperback until next year so not many shops will have it now, but it’s still a great feeling when a book is finally published. It seems such a long time ago that I wrote book one.
The other five books in the series come out later this year – book 2 in April, 3 in June, 4, August, then books 5 and six at the end of the year.
