Baby Rabbits again
I've just been out to feed the rabbits and make sure everything is fastened up for the night... Mother is eating quite a lot at the moment, about three times as much, as she's so busy keeping the babies fed. Whilst Mum and Dad tucked into the food I took a quick look in the nest area and it looks like there are either three or four little ones. It's hard to tell for sure as they like to keep themselves snug and warm in the nest of hay and fur (Mum uses her fur to help build a nest before the babies are born so she's looking a little less fluffy than normal)
In the picture you can just about see two of the babies - all black like Mum and Dad - we think there might be another black one, though it's hard to tell for sure. There's definitely a white and brown baby in there too but it wriggled under the hay before I took the picture.

That is so lovely! I never had any idea that mummy rabbits pulled their fur out to help keep the nest warm! I long for the day when they are old enough to get a nice clear picture. Thank you for posting this.
I think my hair fell out when we had children though I didn't actually line their beds with it.
I think they should be more visible very soon. They're certainly getting more and more active.
Can't wait to see the little bunnies in all their glory. I wonder how long it is before they start hopping around in the hutch? Have you managed to do a head count yet?
I have been meaning to ask you. Did your children get more than their fair share of bedtime stories because of your profession, or did it fall upon mummy to take on that role:0)
Granny, we're pretty sure there are four little ones... and there's a new picture coming soon.
Weechuff, I don't think our children got more than their fair share (I think all children should have bedtime stories) but they certainly got more than other children we know. We still share stories even now - and they're well into their teens, though it's certainly not an every night things. Our eldest daughter, Rachel (18 this year), was in hospital two years ago after having her ankle pinned, and as I was with her for long periods of time during the day I read books to her then. It meant not having to sit and twiddle our thumbs as you do when visiting in hospital for long periods of time, and was also lots of fun. As the week went on, other children on the ward were getting their parents to read to them. We thought it was great though I don;t know how the other parents felt about it.
I always read to my children, until they decided to take a book and read to themselves! (Usually The Famous Five)!I then started reading to my grandaughters who stayed every weekend. That was sixteen years ago, and I am still reading to new grandchildren:0)
